Jessica Badawi, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She is a licensed psychologist with primary clinical interest in the assessment and delivery of evidence-based treatments for adults with severe mental illnesses, specifically schizophrenia spectrum disorders.
Badawi provides psychological services to adults at the Dunn Behavioral Sciences Campus. She is also the Director of the Recovery Oriented Treatment Program (ROTP), a 90-day inpatient program designed to provide intensive interventions for individuals with severe mental illness at UTHealth Houston Harris County Psychiatric Center. Badawi provides clinical supervision and training to psychology pre-doctoral interns, psychiatry residents, and practicum students rotating with the Dunn Behavioral Sciences Campus.
Badawi is actively involved in research. Her primary research interests include examining the relationship between sleep disruption and psychotic symptoms. Current projects include a grant-funded randomized control trial examining the effectiveness of sleep intervention on psychotic symptoms and suicidality. She also has experience mentoring trainees in research.
Badawi completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Kansas and her pre-doctoral internship at the UTHealth Houston Harris County Psychiatric Center with an emphasis in serious mental illness.
